Springbank Distillery
Established in 1828, Springbank distillery is located in Campbeltown - a picturesque Scottish town situated at the southern end of the Kintyre Peninsula on the glorious west coast.
Every stage of our process is carefully considered, from the source of our water in the hills around Campbeltown, to the heating of our stills, to help us maintain the quality and tastes created by our predecessors.
From the malting of the barley, to the final stage of bottling, each and every step of the process is completed on site. Our team uses traditional production methods and are involved in each step of the whisky making process – meaning our whisky is the most handmade in Scotland. Unlike any other distillery in the country, 100% of this process is carried out here on one site, from the malting of the barley to the final stage of bottling, giving us unrivalled control over the quality of the whisky.
Address:
- Well Close, Campbeltown, PA28 6ET

The Washback Bar
Situated in the heart of Springbank Distillery, The Washback Bar provides a cosy escape from the often “dreich” weather of Campbeltown. The bar itself is composed of old washbacks which were used at both Springbank and Glengyle distilleries.
The Washback Bar offers an exclusive, unique and interesting experience in the home of Springbank and Kilkerran whisky. With a range of carefully selected tasting flights and whiskies by the glass on offer, visitors have the opportunity to sample exciting new distillery releases, enjoy favourites from the core range and discover rare archive whiskies. There is also a selection of light bites, homemade soup and hot drinks on offer between 12 and 2:30pm daily.
Podcast:
In the January 2026 episode of the Distillery Tours podcast we spoke to David Allen, Director of Sales and Marketing at Springbank Distillers.
David shares the rich history of distilling in Campbeltown and explains why Springbank is often described as a working museum. Family owned for many years and still fiercely traditional, the distillery continues to do almost everything by hand, from floor malting onwards.
