Springbank Distillery

Springbank Distillery is located in Campbeltown on the Kintyre Peninsula and is one of the most traditional whisky producers in Scotland. It is unique in carrying out every stage of production on-site, including malting, distillation, maturation, and bottling.

Established in 1828, Springbank distillery is located in Campbeltown - a picturesque Scottish town situated at the southern end of the Kintyre Peninsula on the glorious west coast.

About Springbank Distillery

Founded in 1828, Springbank remains family-owned and continues to operate using traditional methods that have largely disappeared elsewhere in Scotland. It produces three distinct styles of whisky: Springbank, Longrow, and Hazelburn. From the malting of the barley, to the final stage of bottling, each and every step of the process is completed on site. The team uses traditional production methods and are involved in each step of the whisky making process – meaning its whisky is the most handmade in Scotland

Podcast

In the January 2026 episode of the Distillery Tours podcast we spoke to David Allen, Director of Sales and Marketing at Springbank Distillers.

David shares the rich history of distilling in Campbeltown and explains why Springbank is often described as a working museum. Family owned for many years and still fiercely traditional, the distillery continues to do almost everything by hand, from floor malting onwards.
