April's Perfect Serve - Paper Plane

April's Perfect Serve is the Paper Plane

The Perfect Serve will titillate your tastebuds with a delicious whisky cocktail featured every month...

This month's Perfect Serve comes from Speyburn Distillery. The Paper Plane is a riff on the classic prohibition-era cocktail, The Last Word, which is an equal-parts-ingredients based drink.

Sam Ross, NYC bartender and modern cocktail extraordinaire, developed the Paper Plane cocktail in 2008 for the opening of Chicago's The Violet Hour bar.

This is a very simple drink to make as it is equal parts of four ingredients. Make sure you use fresh citrus as that is crucial to making the drink really 'pop'.

Ingredients

  • 25ml Speyburn 10
  • 25ml Amaro Montenegro
  • 25ml Aperol
  • 25ml of fresh lemon juice

Method

Fill shaker with ice and shake, double strain to avoid pieces of ice in the drink. Garnish with lemon peel, or if you are feeling clever why not garnish with a homemade paper airplane?
