Our Malt Of The Month is LAGG Single Malt Kilmory Edition
LAGG Single Malt Kilmory Edition is the flagship Single Malt and first core range expression to be released from LAGG Distillery. Kilmory is the name of the parish in which the small village of Lagg is situated. It is our home and we are proud to have our first core range release bear the name of the place in which LAGG Single Malt was born; where the heart of distilling on Arran originated and now lives on from the ground up.
For the LAGG Kilmory Edition we used Concerto malted barley and water from our own borehole. The malt is peated to 50ppm in the kiln. We receive it, crush it and agitate it in our mash tun to create a cloudy wort which delivers a more oily, robust flavour. Our chosen yeast and fermentation time allows us to create the full-bodied flavour we're looking for in our distillation. We then distill twice, at nearly twice the speed of Lochranza, in our handmade copper pot stills.

The taste profile is vibrant and fresh and is the cornerstone of what LAGG Single Malt has to offer into the future. The influence of the peat combined with the vanilla and creamy influence of the American oak forms the backbone of this go-to LAGG Single Malt. It can be said that the Kilmory expression embodies the ‘house style of LAGG’ which centres around the use of Bourbon Barrels with our peated spirit.

- Palate: An initial burst of fruit gives way to subtle bonfire smoke and a long lasting finish

- 100% First-Fill Bourbon Barrel matured and bottled at 46% Vol, without chill filtration and with no added colouring.
