Malt Of The Month - Glen Scotia 12 Year Old

Our Malt Of The Month is Glen Scotia 12 Year Old

Campbeltown is Scotland’s smallest officially recognised whisky region, but its influence on Scotch Whisky is anything but small. Once boasting over 30 distilleries, it was known as “The Victorian Whisky Capital of the World”. While only a handful of those distilleries remain today, Glen Scotia’s big character has stood strong, proudly enduring as one of the last of the many.

Glen Scotia 12 Year Old Single Malt

Glen Scotia 12 Year Old stands proudly at the heart of the distillery’s core range, embodying its unmistakable signature style. Matured exclusively in the finest first-fill bourbon barrels, it delivers vibrant depth and richness, shaped by a distinctive coastal influence - fresh sea air and maritime character woven into every sip.

The profile is beautifully expressive, bursting with exotic tropical fruits and tangy citrus, layered with notes of caramelised sugar and honeyed sweetness. A signature oily mouthfeel adds to its luxurious, lingering finish.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Aged exclusively in first fill bourbon barrels, this single malt opens with fresh sea air, honeyed vanilla and hints of exotic tropical fruit.
  • Palate: Wonderful layers of caramelized sugar, tangy citrus and vibrant pineapple, balanced by subtle toasted oak.
  • Finish: Long and warming, with gentle notes of cinnamon and a touch of nutmeg spice.
  • ABV: Bottled at 46%, natural colour and non-chill filtered.
