Malt Of The Month October 2022 - Inaugural Release Batch #1 Single Malt

Our Malt of the Month is Inaugural Release Batch #1 by Lagg Distillery

Lagg Distillery has plans for three Single Malt Inaugural Releases over the coming months and first up is Batch #1.

Batch 1 has been 100% matured in Bourbon Barrels for 36 months and was produced using Concerto barley and water from the distillery's borehole. They used peat from North East Scotland and the peating level is 50PPM. This Batch is a limited release of 10,000 bottles worldwide.

This 100% Bourbon matured malt and is about establishing a Lagg house style. It has a vibrant and young character and going forward this profile will be the cornerstone of what is offered at Lagg.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Pale straw

Nose: Honey sweetness, toffee and rock pools with a gentle hint of minerality. Herb garden and freshly cut grass.

Palate: Sweet and creamy with vanilla, tablet and malted biscuits. Heather bonfire, citrus twist and an earthy minerality still present and well-balanced on the palate.

Finish: Oak and sweet tannic notes. Initially quite mild with youthful exuberance later on. Lingering oiliness and smokiness with length in the finish.
