Glenmorangie House

Set amongst the rolling barley fields of Easter Ross, our beloved Highland hideaway, Glenmorangie House, is more of a country house than a hotel. For over 25 years it has welcomed the world to its door, developing an international reputation for Highland hospitality along the way. The house is a magnificent reflection of everything that the word ‘Glenmorangie’ stands for – a retreat to peace and calm, a place for cherished moments.

This is our home and it is yours too while you are here. You will not need keys for your room, or a TV to distract you from the views and the company. Real fires, rare drams, walks on the beach, sumptuous dining and unforgettable Highland hospitality. When they talk about getting away from it all, this is what they mean.

Address:

Fearn, by Tain, Ross-shire IV20 1XP

Glenmorangie House is included as part of our North of Inverness Tour.

Directions: You will find us on the Ross-shire peninsula, north of Inverness and just a short drive from the ancient Royal Burgh of Tain. We are wonderfully hidden away, but also very easy to find:

  • Head north from Inverness on the A9, after 33 miles, turn right at the roundabout onto B9175 (sign-posted Nigg).
  • Carry straight on, over the railway and past a junction, and continue for 1½ miles. Turn left (sign-posted Glenmorangie House) and stay on this road for 5 miles (do not turn off for Hilton, Balintore & Shandwick).
  • You will pass a school on your left and a large white farmhouse on your right.
  • After ½ mile turn right (sign-posted Glenmorangie House) and continue for ¾ mile to The House.

The House:

Our bedrooms, in both the main house and cottages, give you an authentic taste of historic hospitality. The traditional Scottish décor with modern ensuite facilities, means you have the best of the old and the new, creating a tranquil space that feels at once like a luxury indulgence and a home away from home. After a sound night’s sleep, you can rise refreshed from your bed, to breathtaking views across the walled gardens out to sea.

The Morning Room, Buffalo Room and Dining Room offer a chance to relax after a day's exploration of our peaceful coastal setting. Stroll around the gardens, take a look at our walled kitchen garden and our 18th century dovecot, or blow the cobwebs away with a walk down to the beach.

Then join us for a delicious meal courtesy of our award-winning Head Chef, John Wilson, who prides his team on using locally sourced ingredients, so you will enjoy the very best meat, seafood and vegetables from the surrounding area.

The Whisky:

When it comes to whisky, we are the best connected House you could possibly stay in. And throughout the year we host a number of very special Whisky Tasting Weekends. We can’t think of anything better than a whole weekend dedicated to drams, and whatever level of whisky enthusiast you are, you will definitely leave with some new favourites.

And if you are enjoying yourself so much you choose to stay for a third night, then you will only pay for your dinner and drinks – the accommodation is on us.

Here is what you can enjoy during one of our event weekends:

  • A two-night stay at Glenmorangie House
  • A tour of the world-famous Glenmorangie Distillery
  • The opportunity to sample blends and malts from our range of whiskies
  • Expert guidance on how to taste whisky

Local Distilleries:

Glenmorangie House and the Glenmorangie Distillery are connected in so many ways. We are an embodiment of the Glenmorangie spirit and ethos, and in turn, the Distillery reflects our warm, welcoming hospitality. So we encourage all our guests to make a visit – after all, it is only 20 minutes away.

The highlight for many visitors is wandering amongst the giant copper stills. Others say that years later they can always recall the sweet malty aromas of the mash house. And the atmospheric traditional warehouse, filled floor to ceiling with barrels of slowly maturing Glenmorangie, sets you up perfectly for your trip to the tasting bar.
