We interviewed Matthew McFadyen of The Good Spirits Company for our July 2022 podcast.

Matthew tells us about how his passions for interesting whiskies, spirits and wine led him and two friends to set up the business, how the company’s three shops got through the COVID pandemic and he also recalls a memorable whisky voyage to Campbelltown.

The Whisky:

We work with scores of distilleries and independent bottlers to ensure that we always have a wide selection of new, interesting and tasty whiskies. We run regular public tastings in our purpose built tasting room, but if you’re just dropping in we’ll be happy to talk you through what’s on our shelves, and we always have a wide range of bottles open for tasting - we know that the best way to help somebody find the whisky that’s right for them is to let them taste it.

Our range of single malts varies from week to week, but we usually have between 250 and 300 different expressions in stock at any one time. We have everything from budget-friendly everyday drams to rare, collectable single casks from long closed distilleries like Port Ellen or Brora.

We also stock over 100 Scottish gins, as well as a wide range of rums, brandies, tequilas, mezcals and other spirits, cocktail ingredients and equipment, bitters, and a selection of drink-related books.
