Malt Of The Month September 2025 - Annandale Man O’Words STR

Annandale's Man O’Words STR ex red wine cask number 335 is the distillery's first STR (Shaved, Toasted, Recharred) release in two years, and the oldest to date at eight years old.

Dr Jim Swan was instrumental in the development of the distillery and its signature orchard fruit forward spirit. He also pioneered the technique that gave these casks their name (shaving, toasting, re-charring red wine casks), which perfectly complements the distillery's new make spirit, and has produced some of its best whiskies to date. STR casks are what Annandale Distillery considers to be at the pinnacle of their range.

Tasting Notes

• Appearance: Warm Gold
• Aroma: Fresh green apples and pears, strawberries, and soft oak spice
• Palate: Silky and rich, with layers of orchard fruits, creamy vanilla and a touch of caramel sweetness.
• Finish: Long and elegant with lingering strawberries, gentle spice and more caramel
