Tour of the Month: The Arran Water Tour
Visit Lagg Distillery and discover how they are building on the legendary narrative of distilling in the south of Arran to produce their traditional style peated single malts. The distillery's various tastings give visitors the chance to discover the influence of peat and what makes Lagg whisky unique.
Dive deeper into fascinating stories of illicit stills, excisemen and historic distilling practices in the distillery's Arran Water Tour. In the 19th century, the illicit spirit distilled on the Isle of Arran was known as the 'Arran Water' and had a stellar reputation across the country for its incredible quality.
Take a stroll around Lagg Distillery as one of their tour guides regales you with the fascinating history and (mis)adventures of Arran’s distilling past, both illicit and licensed. Naturally, the stories will be accompanied with some delicious drams of Lagg Single Malt as well as some chocolates from local chocolatier James of Arran.
They say: "There’s so much to learn about our wee island’s history. And we’re proud to carry on an age-old tradition of making whisky in the heartland of 'Arran Water'."
