Distillery and Whisky News July 2024 - GlenDronach

Hello whisky lovers, and welcome to our July edition of Distillery and Whisky News.

Well, I'd like to say summer is finally here, but sadly as I type this it is looking somewhat gloomy out there!

Regardless of the weather, we all know Scotland is the place to be for a fantastic break - be it a long weekend or something a little longer. So if you have a plan to visit some of your favourite distilleries this summer, then make sure you check out the all-singing, all-dancing Plan Your Trip page at DistilleryTours.scot.

Here, you can tailor-make your own tour of Scotland's distilleries, and include whisky retailers, bars and hotels that take your fancy along the way. This can all then be downloaded to a device with directions and a route making for a pain free and well-planned trip. Sorted!

Until next time...

Distillery Of The Month: GlenDronach

GlenDronach Distillery

Nestled in the valley of Forgue, deep in the East Highland hills, is The GlenDronach. One of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, it has been creating the finest richly sherried single malts for nearly 200 years.

The GlenDronach is of true Highland style: a heavy and robust spirit, perfect for a long maturation period in sherry casks. The award-winning GlenDronach range marries the best of Highland and Spanish skill and heritage to offer whiskies of elegant, complex character with tremendous depth of taste.

At the distillery's Sherry Masterclass you can delve into the rich history of sherry cask maturation, and discover how The GlenDronach has become renowned as the sherry cask connoisseurs since 1826. Allow your taste buds to be transported to the Jerez region in Andalucia, the home of sherry, with an exploration of sherry wines and cask types.

Uncover four whiskies highlighting the range of luxurious flavours imparted throughout the maturation process, so that you too can leave a Master of Sherry.

Find out more about the GlenDronach Distillery, their whisky and their tours on their dedicated page on the DistilleryTours.scot website.

Venue of the month: The Snug at Speyside Distillery

If a trip to Speyside is on the cards this summer then make sure you visit The Snug - Speyside Distillery’s Visitor Experience in the heart of Aviemore. Visitors can experience award-winning craft spirits on a daily basis, open seven days a week.

Built in a style to reflect that of Speyside Distillery itself – old wooden beams, stone walls and a hand-crafted bar made from whisky barrel staves - you are welcomed into a cosy environment where you can browse the store for gifts, arts, crafts and spirits or treat yourself to a dram, book a tasting event or a distillery visit.

Find out more about The Snug on its dedicated page at the DistilleryTours website.
